The final stage of the Camino Francés is the most popular route for first-time walkers on the Camino.

Starting in the town of Sarria, you cover 118km over 5 days’ walking, allowing you to collect your Camino certificate, the Compostela, upon reaching Santiago.

Highlights include:

  • Cross the River Miño river into Portomarín, passing over the submerged old town in the river beneath you.
  • Enjoy lunch in Melide – the self-styled “pulpo” capital of Galicia.
  • Relax in the scenic hamlet of Ribadiso, before finishing up in Arzúa for the day.
  • Enjoy a free day in Santiago de Compostela, exploring the winding streets of the historic old city centre.

Itinerary

  • Saturday, Day 1 – Fly from Dublin to Santiago. Private transfer to Sarria.
  • Sunday, Day 2 – Walk from Sarria to Portomarín, 22km.
  • Monday, Day 3 – Walk from Portomarín to Palas de Rei, 24km.
  • Tuesday, Day 4 – Walk from Palas de Rei to Arzúa, 29km.
  • Wednesday, Day 5 – Walk from Arzúá to Pedrouzo, 19km.
  • Thursday, Day 6 – Walk from Pedrouzo to Santiago, 20km
  • Friday, Day 7 – Free day  Santiago de Compostela.
  • Saturday, Day 8 – Free time in the morning followed by return to Santiago airport for flight to Dublin.
